TickScanner Privacy Policy
Effective: 2025-12-18 · Last updated: 2026-10-19 · App: TickScanner (com.eltacrew.tickscanner) · Developer: EltaCrew
EltaCrew ("we") publishes this policy to explain how the TickScanner app handles your data. AI analysis of pet skin and teeth runs on your device; photos are sent to us only if you explicitly opt in to help improve the model.
1. Data we process and why
Photos and diagnostic data (only with your consent)
- Items: pet photos taken in the app; a random device identifier generated by the app (not linked to any account, phone number, or email); capture metadata (time, device model, image-quality metrics, AI result and confidence, model version); the polygon coordinates highlighted by the AI.
- Purpose: improving the accuracy of the skin/teeth AI (model retraining).
- How: collected only when you explicitly agree on the in-app consent screen; sent over HTTPS to our own server; never sold or shared with third parties and never used for advertising.
- Retention: up to 2 years from collection; deleted without delay by device identifier when the period ends or when you withdraw consent or request deletion.
Photos may incidentally include people or surroundings — please take care when shooting.
2. How data is collected
- Photos and diagnostic data are collected only if you agree on the in-app consent screen.
- You can withdraw consent at any time in the app.
3. Sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties.
4. Retention and deletion
- Consented photos and diagnostic data are kept on our server for up to 2 years and deleted when the period ends, consent is withdrawn, or deletion is requested.
5. Your rights
- Withdraw consent on the in-app consent screen.
- Request deletion of collected photos/data by email (include the device identifier shown in the app).
6. Security
- All transfers are encrypted with HTTPS.
- Server access is authenticated, and data is used only for the stated purpose.
7. Advertising (third-party SDK)
- This app shows Google AdMob ads.
- To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect the advertising ID (AAID), device information, approximate location, and app-interaction data, processed under Google's advertising policies (policies.google.com/technologies/ads).
- You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalized ads in device Settings > Google > Ads.
8. On-device processing, gallery saves, and permissions
- AI analysis runs on the device (on-device model). Nothing leaves your phone unless you opted in under section 1.
- When you tap Save, the result photo is written to your device gallery (MediaStore); the history (result, time) is stored only in the app's local database. Deleting in the app or uninstalling removes the history; photos saved to the gallery are yours to delete.
- Permissions: Camera (taking pet photos, only when you press the button) · Flashlight (low-light aid) · Storage (Android 9 and below only, to save to the gallery; Android 10+ uses MediaStore without a permission) · Internet / network state (ads and, if opted in, photo upload) · Vibration (feedback).
Children's privacy
This app is not directed at children under 14, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when laws or the service change. Changes are announced in the app or on this page.
Crash reporting and usage analytics (Firebase) — added 2026-09-18
The app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to collect diagnostic information when the app crashes or hits an error, and statistics about which screens and features are used.
- Data collected: crash logs (stack trace and the screen where the error occurred), device model, OS version, app version, an app-instance identifier (Firebase installation ID), app interactions (screen views, feature usage counts, session length, and the step and error type when a feature fails), and approximate location (country/region inferred from IP address).
- Not collected: name, email, contact details, or anything you type into the app.
- Purpose: fixing errors and improving the service. Not used for advertising or marketing.
- Processor: Google LLC (Firebase). Data is stored on Google servers.
- Retention: crash data for 90 days; usage statistics are deleted after the period set in Google's retention settings.
- Opt-out: this collection is required for the app to function and cannot be switched off individually. Uninstalling the app stops further collection.

International data transfers
The app uses Google LLC services for crash reporting, usage analytics and ads, so the data described above is processed on Google's servers. If you agree to share photos for AI improvement, they are stored on our server. If you do not want this, you can avoid the feature or uninstall the app.
Updated 2026-10-19: added international transfers, failure details in analytics, app name line.
